What did you do this past week?

This past week was a little stressful for me.. I had to write an essay for my government course, plus the exam for SWE, plus working on phase 2 of the project, plus a couple interviews for internships. Luckily, my essay didn’t take me all that long, and the exam for SWE wasn’t too bad. I think it’s an interesting format, and I kinda like it. For the project, my team and I worked on migrating data to our Postgres database, as well as finishing up our API.

What’s in your way?

The biggest obstacle that my team and I are facing right now is probably time.. luckily the due date got pushed back by one day, but it is still gonna be very difficult to get everything done in time. Also, we’re kind of at a blocker with our database, in that we can’t do too much work on populating and formatting the front end of our site until our database is finished.

What will you do next week?

On Monday and Tuesday I will spend the majority of my time finishing up phase 2 of the project. Then afterwards, my team and I are gonna start roadmapping our work for phase 3, and hopefully get an early start on it so we don’t run into an issue with time again. I also have some work coming up in my other courses, but next week should be less stressful for me than this past week.

If you read it, what did you think of The Liskov Substitution Principle?

I thought the LSP reading was very interesting. I like that it builds on the Open-Closed Principle. I also liked the example of squares and rectangles, and then how the author later transitioned to a much more realistic example.

What was your experience of Test #1? (this question will vary, week to week)

Overall, I’d say I had a good experience with the first test. I thought the questions weren’t all that bad, and there was not too much time constraint. It was reassuring to confirm that my group and I all got basically the same answers during the individual portions of the exam. Therefore, the collaborative portion was very quick and easy for us, so that was nice.

What made you happy this week?

I’m writing this blog during half time of the Packers Buccaneers game but I’m happy that Tom Brady is winning. Hope he wins the game.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is to get ready for courses registration for Spring 2021. Registration information sheets are now up, so I want to start planning what courses I want to take in the spring so that I’m ready come registration day.
